Mid-life I had been a high school graduate stay at home mom and as the children got older I worked odd jobs, including fast food management (too stressful) assembly line work (boring) and clerical work (please God, unchain me from this desk!) I knew I needed to focus on something. I spent some time soul searching and after looking over my bookshelves I saw a definite pattern of an interest in health and the Mind-Body connection. After meeting a happy massage therapist I decided that was IT! So I enrolled in the best local school I could find and I applied myself diligently and graduated with honors. I got an internship at Lifestyle Center of America in Sulphur Oklahoma and they hired me! What a wonderful job! I got to be part of a care team that mainly taught diabetics how to manage their condition through lifestyle modification. I saw many positive results with improved diet, exercise, sunshine, water and proper rest. The organization changed direction closed the business and took their education on the road and on the internet, so I just stayed in Sulphur and opened my own massage practice.
There are many different ways to approach massage therapy, ranging from beauty oriented spas, to corrective bodywork, sports massage and spiritual healing. My approach is to integrate the mind, body and spirit. Focusing on your needs I customize treatment to your particular circumstances. I have an attitude of compassion, kindness and a sense of humor. I truly love my work as a facilitator of healing and my clients. I understand the stresses of life can leave a person feeling pretty beat up at times and I can usually help diffuse the intensity of stress with kindness and gentle sense of humor in addition to therapeutic bodywork.
I am a Christian and believe God made our bodies with wonderful capabilities to heal, especially when given what you need. This life here on earth is pretty tough and as a result, wear and tear on the body, toxic environment, toxic foods, emotional pain and spiritual unrest are often locked up in certain areas of our body. Massage, essential oils, healthy socialization and prayer can help release those things that bring us down.
Healing is seldom instantaneous, more often is is an ongoing thing. It's like layers of an onion. You deal with one thing, and when you are ready, you can deal with the next and so on. This can continue as you go deeper and deeper within the body and soul.
